The Museum Hotel Antakya — Balance SPA & GYM

The Museum Hotel Antakya — Balance SPA & GYM

Construction documentation and bespoke detailing were developed for the Balance SPA & GYM facilities at The Museum Hotel Antakya. The building was replanned as a museum hotel following the discovery of archaeological settlement layers spanning three ancient periods during construction. The scope included project management, site architectural supervision, construction drawings and shop drawing services throughout the building process. While spa and fitness facilities are typically located on the basement or ground floors of hotels, this project placed the entire programme on the rooftop level. This arrangement required tailored construction details capable of accommodating movement within the building’s all-steel structural system. Thermal expansion, contraction and deformation caused by significant day-to-night temperature variations were assessed to establish the required movement allowances. Particular attention was given to rigid finishes and junctions, with bespoke fabrication and installation details developed to accommodate these movements. The resulting solutions reflect technical expertise specific to the project’s structural and construction conditions.
